Tower Lakes Watershed Study

Funded by a Lake County Stormwater Management Commission Watershed Management Board grant which Hey played an integral role in procuring, we worked with long-time partners, the Tower Lakes Improvement Association, to develop concept plans for drainage improvements in the Village of Tower Lakes, focusing on Hussissian Park. Hey designed and deployed a network of monitoring gauges to track surface water and groundwater elevations in key locations pertinent to existing drainage concerns. The hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for the Timber Lake Drain and Tower Lakes system was updated, compared to the gauge data, and used to develop concept plans to address drainage concerns. The gauge network and model can be used in the future to plan, design, and quantify enhanced drainage resulting from improvements projects.
