within the Chicago metro area. Hey and Associates has completed hundreds of
delineations covering the spectrum of wetland types and regulatory circumstances.
Staff has completed training in delineation methods and has lengthy field
experience. We are familiar with the 1987 Corps of Engineers’ Wetland
Delineation Manual, Natural Resources Conservation Service and Wisconsin
Department of Natural Resources. Our staff includes specialists in botany,
soils science, and hydrology, ensuring that our wetland delineations are fair
and objective.
Our typical delineations
include a native vegetative quality rating as calculated using the Floristic
Quality Assessment (FQA) of Swink and Wilhelm as published in Plants of the
Chicago Region, 1994. Our ecological expertise also allows for assessments
of other wetland functional values as needed for project planning purposes. We
are able to evaluate and assess these values as they relate to the various
federal and state laws and local ordinances, such as Section 404 of the Clean
Water Act, the Illinois Interagency Wetland Policy Act of 1989 and the DuPage
County (Illinois) Countywide Stormwater and Floodplain Ordinance.
