Waterville Lake

Waterville Lake is a 76-acre reservoir lake home to largemouth bass, panfish, and northern pike, created when a dam was constructed on Scuppernong Creek in 1962. Hey was retained by the Waterville Lake Homeowners Association (HOA) to perform a watershed investigation, identifying potential water quality improvements projects to enhance water quality in the watershed, on the creek, and in the lake. As part of this initial watershed assessment, Hey deployed sonar-enabled mapping equipment to generate lake bottom contours and define sediment accumulation. This high-resolution bathymetric mapping uncovered remnants of the landscape prior to impoundment, including ponds, wetlands, forested knolls, man-made disturbances, and historical creek meanders.

 One of the primary projects identified in the watershed investigation, located on a Waukesha County Land Conservancy owned parcel, included restoration of a reach of the Scuppernong Creek, just upstream form the inlet to Waterville Lake. This project has been identified as a priority project for the local stakeholders and funding is being explored.
